My journey as an artist started almost thirty years ago as a traditional, self-taught quilter. After taking numerous in-person and online workshops, I decided that it was necessary to acquire a more formal education. Between 2018 and 2020, I completed an advanced (Level 4) City and Guild accredited course with the School of Stitched Textiles. Here is a story about my work on this course, for which I was awarded a Certificate of Excellence: Best Advanced Practitioner. To expand my skills, I then completed a two-year Master Practitioner Course which emphasized design skills and artistic development. Since then, I have developed my unique visual language to integrate stitch, paint, and photography.
I am also—in another life—an award-winning writer on music. For a long time, these two lives barely intersected. Yet both as an author and as an artist, I have been engaging with, and thinking about, creativity, learning, and art. And so, I have come to the decision to merge these strands in my new blog dedicated to exploring what it means to create in fiber, with words, and through sight.
